Fetters Construction facilitated tours at the new Syracuse Elementary School over a three day period so all of the students currently in Kindergarten thru 5th Grade at the existing Syracuse Elementary will get to see their new school. Dr. Tom Edington, Superintendent of Schools for Wawasee Community Schools, led the tours. At the end of the three days, approximately 600 students had toured their new school. The kids wore hi-vis vests and hardhats and were very well behaved.
As part of the tour, the school had “Sharpie” pens available and each of the students got to sign their name on the concrete floor in the principal’s office. The floor was sectioned off by graduation year. Even though the names will eventually be covered up with carpet, it was a fun concept and something for the students to talk about in the years to come.
The project is on schedule and school starts August 9, 2017.
