On Tuesday, August 18th Fetters Construction, Inc. donated $41,863.00 to DeKalb Health.
During DeKalb Health’s recent north campus expansion, Fetters Construction, Inc. served as the general contractor.
“The funds were additional dollars we had earned in part through the management of our time and material processes,” explained Steve Fetters, CEO of Fetters Construction, Inc.

The $6.7 million project that transformed nearly 30,000 square feet of space on the facility’s north face came in on time and on budget and addressed healthcare facility needs to accommodate its growth in orthopedics, physical therapy, and occupational health. Construction began in the spring of 2014, and the new spaces were officially dedicated almost one year later at a community open house held on April 19th. Approximately 50 full-time workers and subcontractors were employed during the project.
“We truly value the expertise, partnerships and support of our local businesses,’’ added Craig Polkow, DeKalb Health CEO. “Not only is this donation and the improvements made going to better serve our patients, it is always a plus when there is a direct economic impact realized within our local community.”
The renovation created new offices, physician suites and treatment areas. It showcases 11,127 square feet dedicated to new rehabilitation and therapy services; 5,500 square feet to house Fort Wayne Orthopedics; and 3,330 square feet for DeKalb Business Health Services. Another 3,108 square feet are dedicated for lobby and common spaces.
“Auburn is my hometown, and I remember the hospital being built,” said Fetters. “We were fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with our community hospital, and feel giving these dollars back to DeKalb Health will help so many locally.”
Accepting on behalf of DeKalb Health is Craig Polkow, newly appointed CEO, and Dr. Emilio Vazquez, the administrative lead who directed final project details.
